This past weekend one of my best friends married the love of her life. I was lucky to be apart of their special day as a bridesmaid.
For the past few months me and the other bridesmaids have been helping Abby (the bride) prepare for her big day. We have done everything from help her choose her dress, flowers, color scheme, plan the bachelorette party and finally stand by her side on her wedding day. Throughout the process of helping and seeing her plan the wedding out, I realized how essential the design element was.
As a designer I now see how it is relevant in every day life. We see deign in how our houses and apartments are built, the clothes we wear, the products we use, the furniture we sit in, etc. For the wedding design played one of the most significant roles. Without design it would not be possible to create an aesthetic for a wedding, there could be not theme or color scheme. Design goes into what the wedding cake, wedding dress, and venue look like.
on Abby's actual wedding day me and the other brides were able to help truly bring her wedding and aesthetic to life by decorating and setting up the small details. We helped to set up the tables for the reception area and the wedding arbor which we covered in beautiful flowers. The fine details went into the table arrangements, the bouquet, entry way and small decorations used for the aisle.
When Abby's friends and family finally began to arrive the venue had been transformed and looked as if it was out of a story book. Without the element of design creating that beautiful day would not have been possible. And because of design it ended up being the most beautiful day I could have ever pictured for Abby.
